Sun Valley Nordic Fest

Everybody knows that Sun Valley, Idaho is known for world-class skiing but did you know that it has also become known as “Nordic Town USA?”  The Nordic trail system throughout the valley is very impressive and has terrain suitable for novices to Olympic elites.  The area even draws Nordic ski teams from other countries that come here to train.   Very nice.

This year will be the second annual Sun Valley Nordic Festival.   It starts on January 29  and runs through Feb. 6th.   The event will feature tons of Nordic events, clinics, races parties and other events.

Don’t forget to check out the Ketchum Night Sprint Relay & Music Celebration.  It’s an event highlight and will be a great time for everyone.   Live music, sprint races with cash prizes, ice sculptures, a bonfire and the 2nd annual World Snowshoe Dance Competition are all part of the party.

The whole family will like the Banff Mountain Film Festival, Nordic event speakers at the Community Library and a ski/dining experience at Alturas Lake and Smiley Creek.

The Swix Boulder Mountain Tour race, is expected to draw in excess of 800 participants.  There is about $11,000 in prize money on the line for the top racers.   This event takes place on the North Valley Trails and is pretty much the grand finale to the week.  Put it on your calendar and we’ll see you there.
