Old Glory in Copper Ranch Condos Hailey, Idaho

An interesting controversy  has arisen in our little town of Hailey, Idaho that has actually gained national media attention.   I’ll simply report the facts.   Steve and Robin Perfect rent a condo  in the Copper Ranch development in Woodside.  Their son is fighting in Iraq.  They have been flying a flag in his honor outside their condo since he was  deployed several months ago.  The homeowners association requirements in the complex do not allow for items to be displayed in the common areas. This includes flags, bird houses, wind chimes, plants, etc.

Some of the neighbors had issues with the flag being displayed and brought it to the attention of the managers of the homeowners association. The management asked the residents to please remove the flag since it was against the association policy.  They did not take the flag down.

So,  that’s the issue.  It has been in all the local papers and even presented by the media on a national level.   Interestingly enough, the controversy was brought to a head on Veterans Day.  Also, interesting is that I am closing escrow on a Copper Ranch condo today.

As far as I know as of today they have not removed the flag from the common space. I will be over there today for a final walk through so I will check it out.  I could but I don’t want to present my opinion in this blog because this blog is not about my rants or my political views but rather real estate.
