The Sun Valley area is deep into winter, and we’re enjoying a mix of outdoor adventures and cultural experiences. That’s what life in a mountain town is all about during these perfect winter months! Here are a few local happenings that we’re looking forward to in February.
There’s a special joy to be found in watching the Banff Mountain Film Festival — a popular film showcase that highlights mountain culture, sport, and lifestyle — surrounded by others who love the outdoors just as much as you do. This year’s festival will tour three nights in Ketchum, with each night showing a new lineup of films.
Tickets are available at Backwoods Mountain Sports, Elephants Perch, Chapter One Bookstore, Ski Tek, and Sturtevants.
The Sun Valley Nordic Festival runs from January 26 to February 9, with the main event — the Zions Bank Boulder Mountain Tour — happening on Saturday, February 2. We’re especially excited about the NordicTown USA Sprints on January 31 (spectators can enjoy hot chocolate, beer from Sawtooth Brewery, a bonfire, and plenty of cheering during the races) and the Ski the Rails event on February 9.
The Sun Valley Summer Symphony’s first ever Winter Series will take place at the newly opened Argyros Performing Arts Center in Ketchum on February 22 and February 23. The Sun Valley Summer Symphony is one of the area’s most beloved summer activities, and free tickets for the Winter Series were reserved within hours of their release. Email [email protected] to be put on the waiting list, or line up at the Argyros Performing Arts Center’s box office the night of the show to try for one of the “rush seats.”
